Biography

Barbara is a Polish soprano who graduated with honours at the Music School in Kielce under the direction of Zofia Zamojska- Pabich.
She continued her vocal training with Izabella Klosinska and Jerzy Knetig at the Fryderyk Chopin Academy of Music in Warsaw, Poland. She completed her studies with distinctions in 2007.

During her university studies, she participated in many artistic events and concerts organized by the Music Academy.

Among others, she cooperated with the Aleksander Zelwerowicz Theatre Academy in Warsaw playing the part of Mimi in G. Puccini’s “La Boheme” opera (the Collegium Nobilium Hall).

She performed during concerts devoted to the works of W. Zelenski (a recording of the concert was released by AMFC in Warsaw in 2001/02), F. Nowowiejski (the Raspberry Hall of the Dzialynski Palace in Poznan and the Kornik Castle), R. Strauss as well as E. Grieg (Universitat fur Musik und Darstellende Kunst in Vienna).

Together with outstanding singers Jadwiga Rappe, Piotr Nowacki, and Artur Stefanowicz, she took part in the concert devoted to promoting Malgorzata Komorowska’s book entitled “The Chronicle of Music Theaters in the People’s Republic of Poland).

She performed along with the well known Polish mezzo-soprano singer Malgorzata Walewska within the “Chamber Music Salon” cycle in the Kielce’s Cultural Centre.

In 2001-02 she went on a month-long tour in Germany, France and Switzerland together with Warsaw St. Ann’s Choir.

Barbara’s prolific artistic output consists of significant achievements:

* She won the first prize and a prestigious award for Vocal Etude at the Franciszka Platowna National Vocal Competition in Wroclaw (April 2000).

* She was a finalist of the Krzysztof Penderecki International Competition of Contemporary Music in Krakow (October 2000).

* She was a finalist and got a Special Prize at the National Competition for Young Sopranos in Busko Zdroj (2003).

* She won a prestigious prize of Slawomir Pietras- the director of the Grand Theatre in Poznan -at the Ada Sari International Vocal Art Competition in Nowy Sacz (2007)

Since beginning of her career she received many scholarships as well:

* She was granted a scholarship by the Minister of Culture and National Heritage in Warsaw (2001)

* The local government in Kielce awarded her with “The hope of Kielce” prize - one of its culture and arts scholarships for gifted young residents (2001)

* She also received a special award for her impressive achievements from The Chopin Music Association in Kielce.

* She was granted two scholarships by the “Internationale Sommer Akademie Prag-Wien-Budapest” in Baden (2004) and in Reichenau (2006) (Austria).

* She also received the Mayor of Busko-Zdroj award for outstanding artistic achievements and dignified representation of Busko-Zdroj on Polish as well as foreign scenes.

* She completed a one-year scholarship in Universitat fur Musik und Darstellende Kunst in Vienna where she was taught by Professor Leopold Spitzer (Austria).

* In 2006-07, she was awarded a scholarship by the President of the Capital City of Warsaw .

She has improved her vocal abilities and artistic skills participating in several vocal courses led by:

* Kerstin Wahlstrom (The Royal College of Music in Stockholm)

* Michaela Kramer (Robert Schumann Hochschule in Dusseldorf)

* Ursula Filge(Staatliche Hochschule fur Music und Darstellende Kunst in Stuttgart)

* Ryszard Karczykowski (Academy of Music in Krakow and Warsaw )

* Marcin Habela (Haute Ecole de Musique de Géneve and Conservatoire national de Lyon)

* Diego D’auria (Conservatory of Sassari and Lugano Conservatory in Switzerland)

* Thomas Hampson

Since 2004, she has been soloist of the Chamber Stage at the National Philharmonic in Warsaw. She has also cooperated with the Romuald Traugutt Philharmonic in Warsaw (performing during concerts held in Warsaw, Berlin and Chicago).

She visited the scenes of many music festivals including the Summer Festival of Songs by Polish Composers in Warsaw, the Moniuszko Festival in Kudowa Zdroj, the Academy of Polish Song in Kornik as well as the Krystyna Jamroz International Music Festival in Busko-Zdroj.

Barbara currently takes part in many concerts, cooperating with philharmonics and artistic institutions both in Poland and abroad.
Among others, she has sung together with the orchestras of the Swietokrzyska Philharmonic, the Slaska Philharmonic, the Opolska Philharmonic, the National Opera Orchestra, the Strauss Ensemble orchestra, Concerto Avenna, the Animato band, the Salonowa Orkiestra Zdrojowa as well as the Paderewski Symphony Orchestra.

She cooperated with the following outstanding conductors: Miroslaw Jacek Blaszczyk, Marcin Nalecz-Niesiolowski, Wojciech Niewrzol, Zbigniew Goncerzewicz, Boguslaw Dawidow, Martyn Bagnall, Benjamin Druffel and Stuart Squire.

Since 2007 Barbara has been living in Dubai, where she is one of the Dubai Divas, a vocal chamber ensemble based in Dubai.
